The Situation: Entertainment is cutthroat, and young filmmakers are struggling to break into the industry. Student director Elijah Kimmel, whose thesis film is currently in the midst of its festival circuit, is feeling that heat. In order to pique judges' interest and generate more desirability for his political drama, we worked together to create a comprehensive marketing plan for his biopic on Joan Quigley, titled Reagan/Quigley '85.
See the Full Plan Here:
Outdoor Promotion: They said go big or go home. We decided to go big with truck wraps, billboards, and bus station ads to capture the attention of our large target audience.
Merchandise: With a real presidential election on the horizon, we couldn't help but spoof some of the grassroots tactics used by political organizers, like yard signs and apparel.
Campaign Yard Sign Spoof
"That's My President" Bumper Sticket Spoof
80's Basic Campaign Apparel
Presidential Notebook + Pen
Headshots: With a wrapped film and a booked & busy cast, we had to get creative with our headshots. Lucky for us, we were born in the age of generative fill & Photoshop, helping us make these characters real government officials.

Confession: For someone who went to film school, I don't watch many movies. I especially don't pay attention to the marketing of those movies. So imagine my surprise when I enrolled in the capstone class of my (advertising) major, just to find out the entire semester would be dedicated to marketing another senior's thesis film.
Yeah, that was a tough pill to swallow. But, in all fairness, it ended up pretty sick and I'm stoked with how it turned out. I learned a lot — I mean, who knew the Reagan administration contracted an astrological consultant to map out the president's every move?!
